Silk is considered a sustainable natural fiber. It is a renewable resource, will biodegrade, and uses less water, chemicals, and energy than many other fibers. Silk manufacturing is armonious and low waste process. Silk worms keep a raw, gluten-free, dairy-free diet which consists entirely of mulberry leaves. The mulberry is a hardy tree, resistant to pollution and easy to cultivate. Mulberry trees that sustain most silkworms require few pesticides or fertilizers, can be grown organically and require less water than cotton.

Being a natural fiber, Silk is readily biodegradable after its useful life. It can go on to produce useful mulch or compost, and hence soil, instead of sticking around for the next 500 years, like most petroleum-based fabrics will.

COTTON / LINEN

Linen knit is breathable, lightweight, and fluid with a full-bodied drape, it is ideal for breezy tank tops, t-shirts, and dresses. Linen is laborious to manufacture, but the fiber is very strong, absorbent, and dries faster than cotton.

Linen is one of the most biodegradable and stylish fabrics in fashion history. It is strong, naturally moth resistant, and made from flax plant fibres, so when untreated (i.e. not dyed) it is fully biodegradable.

As one of the oldest and most-used textiles in the world, linen is the ultimate natural fibre with both functional and ethical appeal. It not only keeps you cool on the hottest of summer days, but it is also one of the most environmentally sustainable fibres to produce.
